RetroAffaire was born on Instagram on 12 March 2019 from a simple idea: that old things still have soul.
Here you’ll find the beauty of the past that once dreamed about the future: games, music, films, tech, toys, cameras, manga, anime. Digital and analogue, side by side.
I post about everything that defined that magic era between the late ’70s and early 2000s — when imagination was faster than the internet, when you had to blow on cartridges to make them work (I know, I know, now they say it’s bad for the cartridge but hey, it works!) and when even the loading screens had a heartbeat.
From Sega to Nintendo, from Walkman to iPod, from Famicom disks to Mega Drive CDs, from Game Boys found in Akihabara to Japanese table games of the ’80s, it’s all part of the same affaire: an affair with time itself. Because RetroAffaire isn’t about collecting objects. It’s about collecting memories, the sound of a floppy disk spinning, the hum of a CRT TV, the smell of an instruction manual.
This blog is the digital counterpart of my cabinet of curiosities. To be honest with you all, I’m tired of social media and I want to go retro also on the Internet, a blog, in pure 2003 style.
